Beige and Floral

Autumn is right around the corner, which to most people means Autumn colors. I hate fashion rules with a passion. I don't like to think that I have to wear brown and musty greens all season, I look horrible in those colors usually. I like wearing fun color combinations and patterns, it makes the threat of the cold seem brighter to me. I am sort of crazy wearing what I do seasonaly though. This whole summer I have been wearing a big letterman sweater even in the hottest of days. I am rather ridiculous with my fashion choices.

I love florals, I think that is obvious though. This fall I like the idea of beige and floral. Maybe a classic trench with a pale floral dress or a muted top with a pink flowery skirt and nude oxfords paired with pale blue knee highs? It is such a spring look but I think things should be confusing. If you want you could even throw in some more autumny colors. I have a cute orange scarf knitted by yarnovermovement that would look nice with either outfit.

Style Inspiration: Marilyn Monroe

Yes, yes this seems so obvious. I am really getting a lot of inspiration from Ms. Monroe lately though. Everyone has their Marilyn that they like, I like her most with longer hair and an all around more natural look. This morning I was outside on the porch sans makeup with my hair a mess, it was a bit cold so I was wearing black leggings and a big chunky vintage sweater. It reminded me of her last photo shoot. I went from feeling a mess to feeling chic and effortless. I have been wanting to find a sweater like that for ages, but I suppose my vintage men's varsity will have to do for now. So right now my causal look is late Marilyn.

My Drawings

This summer I started drawing more frequently again. Actually very frequently, at some points I was drawing 4 or 5 girls a day. I have the tendency to give my drawings away to my friends, which means I don't have a lot of them. Here are a few though...

There is more on my flickr if you are interested.

Striped Shirts

Everyone who knows me would agree that I love stripes. I at the very least have ten striped tops, no matter what they are always in style. I still even have a few from when I was a teenager. I am by no means a jeans and t shirt type of gal but I believe there is nothing more effortlessly chic than a striped long sleeve t and jeans. I love all stripes but especially the classic black and white, I would take that over navy and white any day of the week. The french standard does of course have its place. Anyway, I have been hearing that stripes are "all the rage" right now, but really when haven't they? Here is a look at some of my favorite moments for the striped shirt...
